Formation and Founding Members

The expansion of the Banarasi textile trade led to conflicts among local traders, weavers and traders from outside regions. Recognizing the need for a mediating body, 43 prominent traders came together to form the Banarasi Textile Industry Association in 1971. The founding members included:

• Late Roshan Lal Mehra (First President)
• Late Badrinath Pathak (First General Secretary)
• Late Vidya Prakash Vahi, Ginni Prasad Ladia, Kishan Kishore Mehra, Ramlal Khana (Important Members)

The association’s constitution was registered under number 765/1971-72.
Today, the association is led by:

• President: Ghanshyam Das Gujarati
• General Secretary: Devendra Mohan Pathak
• Treasurer: Pankaj Shah
• The re-organized association’s founding members included: Shri Ashok Dhawan, Narottam Das Adhatia, Rajendra Kapoor, Bhupendra Walia
